About the company

KATH Advisory Group (KATH) was created to provide restaurateurs with state-of-the-art advising and interactive tools from a high-qualified ownership team of individuals that have a combined 25+ years of experience in the food and beverage industry. Such restaurateurs may approach KATH due to issues/concerns they have running their restaurants. Additionally, a KATH advisor may approach a restaurateur in an attempt to arrange a complimentary consultation. Such approach may occur if a KATH advisor performs social media research and discovers that the restaurateurs restaurant is experiencing low consumer ratings on various social media platforms or has a low number of reviews on such platforms.

KATH advisors begin every engagement working exclusively with restaurateurs that may be experiencing operational, growth, human resource, and/or profitable hurdles at their restaurants. This is considered the first phase of a typical client engagement. During subsequent phases of such engagement, the advisor may work with the staff of the restaurant, ranging from employees through management. These additional phases may happen on a case-by-case basis.

William J. Winter, CPA, MSA

William (Will) has over 25 years of experience working in the food and beverage industry. He started as a dishwasher at 15 years old, then morphed into various other restaurant roles such as host, waiter, bartender, chef, and supervisor. At age 17, he spent his senior year at high school only attending classes for half the day while the other was spent at a local restaurant learning to cook and be a supervisor. Such arrangement provided him with half of his senior year credits that qualified him for graduation. He then went on to wait tables, bartend, cook, and supervisor at three other restaurants over the next eight years.

Will received a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from SUNY Old Westbury and a Master of Accountancy degree from George Washington University. He then went on to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Since becoming a CPA, Will has worked with many clients in the restaurant and beverage industry. He currently owns and operates an accounting firm in Pittsburgh, PA.
